It two AKM AK4499EQ DACs, Samsung's Exynos 7872 processor, 3rd generation FPGA technology, two Japanese NDK femtosecond crystals, and more. Altogether, they work to minimize noise, distortion, jitter, while accurately reproducing digital audio files as close to the original recordings as possible.

A hallmark of FiiO's portable aesthetic, the 5th generation columnar design gives the M15 concave sides to help provide a better grip when holding the device. Operating the M15 is done via the nearly borderless 5.15" display that features 10-finger multi-touch, 1440 x 720 resolution, and protective Corning Gorilla Glass. There are also physical buttons on the side for basic operation, including a customizable multifunction key. On top is a knurled potentiometer volume knob plus three headphone outputs – 2.5mm, 3.5mm, and 4.4mm.
